So the blog fell on the back burner. Mostly because nobody reads it and also because I barely have time to do anything these days.
We finally finished the roof. It is gray with shake-like comp. shingles. I like it. We used Roofing America. Great company and fast workers. They did a great clean-up job. The only problem was the workers tried to get away with not installing the vents. Once I pointed it out, the owner quickly had it fixed.

Christmas!!!!!
This year, I am having my first-ever holiday party. That means I have been working hard to get the house in decent shape by Thanksgiving weekend.
So far, we have installed some new coat hooks from Rejuvenation in the hallway, installed new lights in the downstairs bath, installed a new ceiling fan in the sunroom and installed a new kitchen faucet (a huge nightmare). We plan on refinishing a door in the dining room, painting the hall and decorating, of course. All of this is on top of a full-time grad school schedule and a 30-hour a week internship. Ugh.
I think there are some photos of last year's decorating but I will post some more. This is my favorite time of the year.

Front Door
New bath lights.
I took this week off so I could build my greenhouse but it will not stop raining. Instead, I am trying to do some little projects inside the house. Yesterday, I replaced both light fixtures in the upstairs bath. The above-sink light is a Delta Victorian light, which matches the sink faucet. The ceiling light is a light/exhaust fan combo. I like it because it does not look like a fan. Now I just have to re-texture and paint around the lights. I stupidly did not take the lights down when I refinished the ceilings and walls about a year ago. Live and learn, I guess.

Doorknobs
After I wrote about my ADD I decided to put my doorknobs back on the doors. Now I am happy to say that I will not be getting stuck in rooms anymore.

I also like this color scheme (sort of).
I need suggestions.
Not that anyone reads this blog, but if you are out there I need suggestions. I am getting a new roof soon and I need to pick a shingle color. Which means I need to also figure out what colors to paint my house. I like the current colors except I want a deeper/brighter yellow for the main color and I want to replace the green painted shakes on the gables with dark-stained shakes. I like a burgundy for the trim but I need to find a better shade.
I also have thought about dark beige/tan or a greenish tan for the main color, with Burgundy for the trim and stained shakes. The upstairs windows have been replaced with vinyl windows so their frames will have to remain white.
Any suggestions?

I have renovation ADD.
So I started shining my doorknobs and doorplates about six months ago. I think I finished six sets and put them back on the doors. The rest are still sitting in a pile in my breakfast room. The ones that I put on, of course, now need to be shined again. I have renovation ADD.
I don't know if it is old age setting in or what, but I cannot seem to finish any project I start lately. I really need to be wealthy so I can hire someone.

Sorry. I'm new.
This may not be a real entertaining blog. Just a warning. I started it because I was looking around for before/after renovation pics of houses like mine and there just weren't any out there. Then I came across Houseblogs.net and thought I would share my renovation stories and photos because they may be helpful to others.
Never done a blog. Don't really know how they are supposed to work. So I am apologizing in advance in case it sucks.
